In the aftermath of a massive avalanche in Uttarakhand’s Badrinath region, over 40 Border Roads Organisation (BRO) workers have been left missing. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has dispatched four teams to help locate and rescue the trapped workers. So far, 32 workers have been rescued from under the snow, but many are still unaccounted for.
The avalanche struck the region suddenly, catching the workers off-guard as they were engaged in road construction activities in an area prone to snowstorms. The sudden onslaught of snow caused a massive slide, burying the workers under tons of snow and debris. Due to the harsh weather and challenging terrain, the rescue operations have been slow but steady.
Rescue teams are using a combination of snow-cutting tools, life-detection sensors, and snowmobiles to search for the missing workers. Aerial reconnaissance is being conducted with the help of helicopters to assess the extent of the damage and locate survivors. Despite the freezing temperatures and continuous snowfall, teams have been working around the clock to locate those still trapped.
Officials are optimistic that the remaining workers will be found, but the race against time remains critical. Authorities are urging all non-essential personnel to stay away from the region to allow the rescue operations to continue smoothly.
